Karla + Beau

26.11.2022

The details were everything for Beau and Karla, who took a long run up to their wedding day to make sure that they nailed their own brief. The thought into every detail gave their guests an experience of them as a couple, so nothing felt like a waste. From the table numbers being quotes from books and movies, to plants as their centrepieces.

“People say that is it goes quick and wow they are right. The day was perfectly imperfect, take it as it comes was pretty much our motto. We did it our way and we loved every single second of it. We felt everything, took time to ourselves and the wedding was full of nothing but love for us and everyone there.”

How did they meet?

Karla and Beau’s love story started way back in high school.. Our lovebirds met through school programs and basketball tournaments. they were both young and full of energy, and instantly clicked. Little did they know that this chance encounter would be the beginning of a beautiful journey that would take them through thick and thin.

These two started dating at the age of 15, and their love blossomed over time. They were inseparable when they were together, and always looked forward to spending time with one other. And not even long distance through uni could keep them apart. After two years they reunited after they both moved to the same town for university. “It was then that we realized how much we missed each other and how much we needed to be together. We started living together and have never looked back since.”

The proposal story.

Karla and Beau’s love story is full of surprises and romantic moments, but none more so than the day Beau proposed. He had planned a special dinner for Karla at their favourite restaurant, Woodhouse, but little did she know that he had also arranged a surprise with the restaurant’s management.

As they were enjoying their meal, Karla didn’t think much of it when she heard their song playing over the restaurant’s speakers. But then the waiter approached her with a letter and Beau with a ring under the table. She read the letter and before she knew it, Beau was down on one knee, asking her to marry him.

Fav part of the day?

“It is hard to pinpoint because there were so many moments that blend into one thing, if we had to pick one it would have to be our first dance. We had only rehearsed it a few times before the day but we nailed all the lifts that we had in there and it was so much fun. We smiled and laughed throughout it and honestly just had the best time.”

Advice for couples planning their wedding.

Prioritise the things that you really want and the ones that would be nice to have.
Ensure that you book the vendors that you want early to make sure you do not miss out.
Have binder with all of the details in it from the table settings to the detailed run sheet, this can help with everyone knowing what is going on and people are able to help more.
Take a moment for yourselves and take a breath, just the two of you.

How did Culture Hitch help?

“I used Culture Hitch to help with finding vendors, it is a great place to see what vendors are local and saves so much time searching on Instagram/Facebook. I also used it as inspiration to see other weddings and make sure that I had everything that I needed.”

Music to our ears, Karla!

Tell us about your vendors!

We could write an essay about how amazing all of our vendors were, they honestly made the day run so smoothly and we cannot thank them all enough.

Dave twenty four 18; was our videographer; he was so personable and easy going, it was just a relief to have someone who knew weddings inside and out. The MVP of our wedding needs. He captured our whole day and we cannot wait to keep looking back on the day for years to come.

Sophie O’keefe Photography; she is relaxed, knows her stuff and gets it done. I (Beau) have never been a photo guy but she made me really enjoy the process and smashed through the family photos so well that so many guests said they have never seen family photos done so efficiently. The way she is able to capture moments is incredible.

Married by Georgia; family at our wedding asked, so how long have you guys been friends with Georgia? (We had met only a couple of brief times). The ceremony was personalised to us and even mentioned my (Karla’s) addiction to Kmart. The ceremony was full of many laughs and it was so enjoyable.

Celeste did an incredible job of both my bridesmaids hair and my hair, it was exactly how I had pictured it and loved it so much. She went above and beyond to ensure that my hair stayed in all day.

Regan; my makeup was flawless and stayed on all day, it was perfect and looked incredible in photos. She did an amazing job of my bridesmaids makeup also and they were all so happy with it.

Ivy and Bloom; the flowers were perfect, they had all the natives that we wanted and really brought our vision to life.

Tom Harrington did an incredible job of playing our ceremony music and cocktail hour, he has a way of setting the vibe and plays some amazing music.

Tessha; created some delicious cupcakes and our wedding cake, they both looked beautiful and tasted divine.

99 Luft Events; the bench seats were perfect for our ceremony and added to our theme.

Bendigo Wedding Swing was such a fun addition to our wedding, everyone loved taking photos on the swing and we would highly recommenced hiring it.

Balgwonie Estate Bendigo; we were able to have both the ceremony and reception in one place and it had amazing views of the winery.

Poppys Bridal Couture made finding and altering my wedding dress so seamless and I loved my dress so much.

The Cognacs Barbershop; they really looked after all the groomsman and myself, the haircuts looked amazing and the service was fantastic.
