Tyler + Makaelah

05.12.2020

Tyler and Makaelah’s  December 2020 wedding saw thousands of changes through the midst of Covid-19, from date changes, to cutting the guest list to 15 and everything between. They were fortunate enough to have picked a new date that meant we could go ahead close enough  to our pre-Covid plans… and they wouldn’t have changed a thing.

Both ceremony and reception took place at Camp David Farm in Spring Hill. The ceremony which was initially planned to be on the grass area was moved into the barn due to heavy rain. It rained the whole way through the ceremony and finally settled with an amazing fog for some unique photo opportunities.

The marquee reception saw the beautiful sunset come out. They celebrated, danced and laughed their way through the night before leaving as Mr and Mrs Williams.

Mak and the girls stayed the night before in the Beautiful Camp David Cottage. A 7:30am start for hair and makeup with of course coffee, breakfast and champagne. Despite a few curve balls with the weather the girls pulled Mak together and she looked stunning. Mak’s late arrival could have been blamed on the weather… but really, they were spending their last minutes recording a Tik Tok.

The guys spent the morning in Kyneton. Waking up to a scenic Kyneton B&B the guys started their morning with a mock-up photoshoot, accompanied by a bit of whiskey. The guys headed to Camp David and arrived half an hour before the ceremony – at this point it was pouring rain but the vendors all had it under control.

All in all, Tyler and Makaelah had the most amazing day. People always told them that time flies on your wedding day, and damn, were they right! They had an absolute blast and even better, left as husband and wife.

How did they meet?

High school sweethearts, these guys met during Year 10 in high school when Tyler moved schools and was placed into the same class as Makaelah. For Tyler it was love at first sight (especially Mak’s booty), chasing after her for years until Mak finally came around a few years out of school.

The proposal story.

This was TOP SECRET. Mak has a habit of guessing all surprises and luckily, this was one she did not see coming. Tyler organised a weekend away in the grampians with Mak’s family. The weekend started with a morning hike, Mak was grumpy due to the rain and freezing cold. Meanwhile Tyler had organised a crew to set up at the location for sunset with flowers and a picnic. Thankfully later in the day the sun came out and we were able to make our way to the proposal destination. As we headed up to the Balcony lookout Tyler jumped the rail which headed towards the ledge where he’d propose. Makaelah wouldn’t follow because she didn’t want to break the rules, a little mocking about Mak supposedly being the adventurous one eventually got her out on the ledge where Tyler popped the question. Thankfully, Mak said yes! They were then met by all of their best friends, followed by a gorgeous photoshoot by sunset and a picnic in the grampians.

Fav part of the day?

M: All of it! Celebrating with family and our best friends. Getting married at a dream venue, dream bridal team. Marrying my man. It was seriously the best day ever and so much fun.

T: Obviously marrying my dream girl. But seriously, I actually had the best time doing photos with our bridal party. I’m normally one to hate having my photo but we had such a unique day, with fog, sun and all sorts – our shoot with the bridal party was so much fun and I think we were all in stitches.

Advice for couples planning their wedding.

“It’s so easy to get political – we found that what we initially wanted in a wedding were just ideals. We ended up stripping it back and really focussed on who the important people are, and what the important things are in our lives. Covid allowed us to change our perspectives on having a large wedding and we were able to enjoy our perfect day with everyone we love and adore.”

How did Culture Hitch help?

“Inspiration! Absolutely, such a great resource for couples to explore local vendors. Culture Hitch and Instagram was definitely a great help, with a Covid wedding we did most of our planning based on DM’s, photos and websites but we wouldn’t change a thing.“

Tell us about your vendors!

“Seriously we were so blessed, with most of our vendors being people we love was seriously so special on our big day. They made our day the best, so relaxing and ever so beautiful. Lori and the team at Camp David Farm were so accommodating and flexible to ensure our day was simply all that we wanted.”
