Mikayla and Dan’s wedding vision was a relaxed day to celebrate with the people they love the most in life, with a theme that appealed to their love for nature with soft earthy tones.
They opted for a canapes hour in the gardens of Chateau Dore where they also held their ceremony, so that their guests could mingle easily. The tables setup for their reception was specifically crafted to ensure their dancefloor would never be empty. We like the way they think!

“We met at school and soon became high-school sweethearts, the rest is history.”
Mikayla remembers like it was yesterday: “WELL… it was mid lockdown, in the middle of Melbourne. We could only go 10km from our house, it was our 8 year anniversary so we decided to drive to Brighton Beach (while it was raining) and just sit in the car, eating and watching the ocean. We exchanged gifts, I opened up a ring box. And he only got a cookbook…”
When asked about their favourite part of the day, it was hard for them to pick just one! For Mikayla, seeing her now hubby Dan and their son Gus at the end of the aisle for the first time was a magic moment, as well as dancing to ‘Never Tear us Apart’ that they belted out, while somehow remembering the moves to their choreographed dance!
For Dan, it was pretty similar: “Seeing my beautiful wife-to-be walking down the aisle, having the rest of the world disappear from focus, and the time spent on the dance-floor was pretty great too.”
Just no expectations! We went into the day thinking, “if nothing goes to plan, at least we’ll be married!” Our day was absolutely perfect though, we couldn’t have asked for any better!
“We couldn’t have chosen a better place or people! Everything was organised, and we didn’t have to do a single thing on the day of the wedding! Every interaction we had with them before the wedding left us excited and relaxed about our big day.
We opted for a cocktail style reception so that everyone could mingle easily and the dance floor would never be empty, and with our incredible DJ/Live Musician, we got exactly what we wanted. Our celebrant got to know who we really were and was able to set the tone for a perfect night”
