Jess + Sam

05.03.2022

Utilising their already remarkable venue, and filling it with stunning florals, Sam + Jess wanted their day to be focused around their love and the life they had already created together, not to mention their two beautiful children, Hannah & Billy. Their atmosphere was relaxed with a focus on everyone having full bellies, drinks in hand and smiles on faces!

How did they meet?

Sam and Jess met way back in 2010 through a mutual friend. Although Jess lived in Melbourne at the time and Sam, in St Arnaud- these two knew from the very first date they they were the one for each other.  6 months later they both found themselves starting their lives together in Bendigo, and never looked back

The proposal story.

The most thoughtful and heartfelt proposal from Sam, Jess still remembers it like it was yesterday:

“I had organised family photos with Bec from Words & Pictures down at Ocean Grove, I wanted to capture Sam, our daughter and myself before we had another baby… by the time the photoshoot came about i was about 18 weeks pregnant with our second. Bec asked me to head down to the water for a ‘bump’ shot (I did think, I barely have a bump but why not) after a few snaps she went back to Sam and Hannah & asked them to head down to me as i waited. Sam had put this bright pink jumper on Hannah and as they got closer it read ‘Mummy, will you marry daddy?’ and Sam dropped the knee and asked me to marry him. It was perfect and I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful proposal and all captured, it was so special.”

Fav part of the day?

Although a tough call, Jess settled on their ceremony as her fav moment, recalling “it was full of love and just ‘us’ – our celebrant did an incredible job”.

Advice for couples planning their wedding.

“Don’t sweat the small stuff, trust your suppliers and embrace every moment because its true, it goes too quickly!”

“Everyone pulled through on the day, I desperately wanted my forest ceremony but the weather gods weren’t playing nice so Ash from Style by Ashleigh K & Aly from The Burrow waited until the last minute to create our wet weather plan, our celebrant Melbourne Celebrant Danielle changed the ceremony details to suit our new location and you just would never have known. Christian our photographer from Whites + Woods  captured so many special moments I don’t know how he did it! Honestly everyone was just fantastic!!”
