Kristy + Justen

17.01.2021

Kristy and Justen originally planned their wedding to be a fairly small, intimate and fun event to be spent with their closest friends and family. It was however, third time lucky when they finally got the go ahead and were lucky
enough to still be able to have all their guests attend.

The day started with their bridal parties and parents as they began preparations for the day in separate locations in Harcourt, both just a short drive from the winery. To set the mood they had written letters to each other, only to be opened before heading off to the ceremony. This was a perfect mood setter and by when it came time to head to the ceremony, emotions and anticipation was running high.

The ceremony was set in the grounds of the winery, up on the large wooden deck. The location was
beautiful as with the sun high in the sky we stood under the shade of the large gums during the
ceremony and shared their own intimate vows.

Following the ceremony Kristy and Justen danced their way down the isle and spent time having photos and sharing
in the well wishes of our guests while the acoustic music was played in the background. It was the
perfect relaxed and fun vibe they’d dreamed. The bridal party was then able to sneak off into the vines
and pose for some photos, along with popping some champagne of course!

The night then began with the reception indoors at the winery, where they enjoyed a sit down dinner with speeches, and then the first dance. The meals were excellent, the drinks flowed and the mood was
high… until the speeches… cue the waterworks! It was exactly as they’d pictured it; emotional,
personal, funny and with a good roasting of the groom. They were able to move outside for the first
dance under the festoon lights. Which went almost without a hitch…. For a whole song! After
inviting everyone to the dance floor the mood of the night was turned up a notch as they danced the
night away.

And just like that after exiting to a sparkler send off the night was over. Kristy recalls everything as being absolutely perfect, and just as she’d dreamed it to be.

How did they meet?

“We met through a mutual friend and began by just texting at first about 10 years ago now. Though our first in person introduction actually happened at a gym where Justen used to work. We then crossed paths at several more parties and gatherings and it all went upwards from there.”

The proposal story.

“It started as a trip to Melbourne to celebrate Kristy’s Birthday, which had all been planned by Justen. Accommodation had been strategically booked next to a picturesque location, dinner booked just a short walk away, tickets to a comedy show purchased, and a bottle of champagne smuggled into a shared suitcase. The day started just like any other with a delicious breakfast out and then a walk around the Queen Vic market. All the while Justen had
barely eaten and was complaining he felt a little unwell… Kristy still however didn’t click. After this, with the ring hidden in pocket, Justen was able to convince Kristy to come for a Walk to Carlton
Gardens and for a trip to the Museum… All of which Kristy thought was very unlike Justen, but still didn’t click. After going through the whole museum and on the way back to the hotel it was now or
never. Justen popped Kristy down on a park bench and grabbed Kristy’s hands, fairly clumsily. Finally when a second walking tour had past, Justen dropped to a knee and popped the question. Kristy,
obviously surprised, burst into tears and quickly said yes! Phone calls and facetimes followed and Kristy wore her much too large, not sized yet ring all weekend all over Melbourne.”

Fav part of the day?

“It was such an amazing day it is so hard to pick just one! But one of both our all time favourite moments from the day would be being announced as Mr and Mrs following the ceremony. It was so nice to look out and see all the happy faces there for us, and then dance our way back down the isle together. We loved having the dried flowers thrown over us and everyone joining in our excitement. There are pictures and video of this exact moment and we just look so happy. We loved it!”

Advice for couples planning their wedding.

“Take your time to do your research and make sure you
have excellent people to work with on the day. You don’t have to spend a huge amount of money for it to all be perfect, just ensure you look around at all the options. When the day finally arrives allow yourself a moment or two to just sit back and watch everything that is going on. Take it all in, as the day will fly.”

Tell us about your vendors!

“All our vendors were amazing! They worked around everything during the peak of the Covid pandemic and constantly checked in on and supported us, which helped limit our stress. We would highly recommend everyone that was involved, as they made the day run smoothly and delivered when it counted. From supportive words to getting the dance floor going, these people were more than just our vendors, they went above and beyond to help make our wedding.”
